What’s Up Monday?

Me lately 🤣

Hiyeee! I’m waving 👋🏾 Forrest Gump style at you all right now! You are Lieutenant Dan. 😊 It feels like it has been an absolute eternity since I posted, but it’s only been a few days, err a week. I started this draft days ago. Maybe it’s because I haven’t posted a how to lately or a “Technique Tuesday” (I totally forgot). Anyhow, Hi Lieutenant Dans!

If you are unfamiliar with the movie Forrest Gump, it just means that I am excessively happy to see you all back here on my blog. I know folks are reading it because I can see the stats. 😂 Stats could be better, but also, I could be better at this. I’m still learning this whole web design/wordpress world. It’s a sharp learning curve even after over a year. I must remain patient with myself. Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have so many roadblocks lately from my son’s constant GI problems to Delta Depression to my general adhd mind. But do not fear! Fall is when I THAAARIVE!

And Yassss Hunty, adding extra vowels because: I LOVE FALL! Imagine me as Leonardo DiCaprio yelling from the masthead (as if I know boats) of the film Titanic “I LOVE FALL!”, instead of the whole 🤴 King thing.

How are you readers? Life is so difficult under COVID, eh? We are all in this together yet not in the same boat. I hope you are safe and not near wildfires or Louisiana-Mississippi-NY-NJ-PA (i miss you Pennsylvania) flooding. I have a friend in New Orleans I havent heard back from yet. 😳 So, I just hope everything is ok.

Just doing some general blog-keeping. For this new month, I am going to finish up two summer macrame clothing how tos (one is done now, check Ellainthe Moon on YouTube, puhlease) and then dive unabashedly into pumpkins and all things harvest! I have some fantastic DIYs in the hopper! I’ll preview them for you all in a story post in a few days. Just think “macrame pumpkin pattern” and “harvest bowl”. Got the fall vibes, yet?

I guess that’s it for now. Gotta get some rope orders in so that I can keep giving you all the DIYs you’ve come to expect. I am making it a goal to post 3 times a week. Woah, right? Can she do it? Yes she can! And if you don’t mind, check out the Ellainthe Moon podcast on YouTube. New one drops later today. 🌚

Happy Making 🌙

Technique Tuesday 005

Sooo…I am not sure if it’s 005 or 006 🤔, but eh, that’s how pandemic time is. And oh boy, the delta variant and its accompanying life complexities have resulted in a delta depression for me. Hence, hardly any blog how tos or posts lately.

But do not despair, here’s a technique tuesday video for my non YouTubers. I hope you find it useful. I am going to continue adding to it over the next few months and sharing.

Polymer Clay Plant Propagation Potty 🌱🧪

Okay, okay, I went overboard with the alliteration in the title of the post, but I just had to do it! Plus, it totally looks like a potty 🚽, and I’m trying to potty train my kiddo so I see toilets everywhere, even in craft. (Funny, right?).

Today, I have something a little different for you AND it’s really, really simple and very quick for the plant propagator in your life. Or just someone who likes to display plants in all manner of nook and cranny of their home like me.

With one bar of Sculpey, you can make two plant potties. Directions are below and please, heck, I’m begging, let me know if you make one or two or ten. 🌚☺️ You can use the hyperlink to purchase and I may make a small commission which can help me continue to bring you tutorials. Plus, it costs less than $3 and makes 4.

Sculpey Polymer Clay

Test Tube 🧪

Roll your pieces into 2 inch balls, then roll them out into cylinders about 1 inch thick and 1.5 inches length. Then, grab a test tube and form your clay piece around the middle of it creating a mold of sorts. Repeat with another 2 inch ball. Then, marry them as pictured, into an L (err Potty) shape. Place your test tube in the middle to make sure it is formed properly and the test tube will sit upright, and press a little indention into the arc of the top half semi circle. This will make a great seat for the tube.

Preheat your oven to 175 degrees F. Place the Clay form onto a cookie sheet with either aluminum foil or parchment paper is ideal. Heat for 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven (with mitts ☺️) and let cool for like 10 ‘minutes, then insert your 🧪 test tube. And just add water and a plant. You can just add a pothos if you’re not propagating. Or add a flower dried or fresh. Display in window sill or on your work desk. Heck, add glue to the back and a magnet and you can put it on your fridge. Im gonna make a bevy of them. Plants, plants, plants!

Proppin’ 🌱🧪✨

Im gonna make more in all manner of colors and line ‘em up.

Hope you make some, too!

Technique Tuesday: Criss Cross

Hiya! It’s another Technique Tuesday and yay!, it’s on Tuesday instead of Wednesday today. Haha! It’s under two minutes as most tech tuesdays are.

Criss Cross Technique

Sorry I dont have an example of it being done in a wall hanging, but truly, you can figure out how to generalize the technique to your work. There is the example at the beginning of the video of it done in a macrame festival top (the boho warrior).

Thanks for reading the blog and remember to go and subscribe to my YouTube if you havent. Please and thankie in advance! 🌚

I made this and gave it to a friend. I want it back now. Haha

It’s Sunday, and what the heck, why not drop in randomly with a post for you! Hope all is well in your neck of the neighborhood. I’m up with insomnia slash my-son-wakes-me-up-and-it’s-driving-me-crazy! 😫

Y’all, I am asking Santa for sleep this xmas. I am so sleep deprived that it’s wearing on me. Not so much wear and tear that I cant stop, wont stop craftlife. 😂

When I’m awakened, usually after about 3 hours of sleep, the wheels start turning. What project can I work on in the dark for like 30m and go back to sleep? Or should I steel away to my crafterroom and shoot a video tutorial? (Have you followed my YouTube yet?! 📺). Or should I work on going back to sleep like a regular everyday adult? Usually, crafting wins. But I need sleep! Or do I need to write this blog post?

Keeping it light in the dark here (yep, typing in the dark, 🤫). Of course, I have like 4, 5, errr 80 projects going right now. For real, 80, ok wait, drop the 0, 8 is enough. But let me tell ya about the projects Ive finished this week.

So, there ya have it. The results of insomnia and craftmania. And just as soon as my child goes to therapy tomorrow, I will be a craftin’ fool. My crafting is your gain.
